Westlink M7 Sustainability Achievements, 2024
- Climate Change
- Utilising renewable electricity at a target of 100%.
- Using resources wisely
- Fully water and solar self-sufficient at the M7’s Eastern Creek Control Centre. We have 150,000 litre rain water storage capacity and 50kW Solar.
- Procurement/Modern Slavery
- Placing Modern Slavery requirements in contracts. The M7-M12 Integration Project is targeting leading ratings through Infrastructure Sustainability Council.
- Advocating for Indigenous Reconciliation and Participation
- Supporting local Aboriginal Enterprise and Cultural Partner Services to maintain landscape and environmental areas in the motorway corridor.
- Recognising the importance of biodiversity
- Supporting Greater Sydney Landcare in the Cumberland Plain Restoration Project. Examining artificial hollow (for habitat) installation.
- Sustainability leaders
- Upskilling our people through training and awareness and providing healthy, safe, and supportive environments.
- Improving Energy Efficiency
- Reducing electricity use by over 35% through LED lighting upgrades on M7 Shared Path and feature lighting along the M7 Motorway.
- Recycled Asphalt
- Trialling and permanently using recycled asphalt on the M7 Shared Path.
